INTEGRATION OF THE TEMPORAL DIMENSION INTO TREATMENT PLANNING AND TREATMENT DELIVERY
MATTHIAS GUCKENBERGER

Breathing induced motion of intra-pulmonary and intrahepatic target volumes has been identified as a significant source of uncertainty. Range of breathing motion up to 30mm has been reported. Traditionally, population based margins of about 10mm were added to compensate this uncertainty. Recent technological developments allow evaluation of patient specific target motion and integration of this temporal dimension into treatment planning and treatment delivery.
