ULTRASOUND OF THE WRIST AND HAND
CARLO MARTINOLI, STEFANO BIANCHI

High-resolution ultrasound is an efficient, rapid and inexpensive alternative to magnetic resonance imaging for evaluation of a wide spectrum of diseases in the soft-tissues of the wrist and hand. The range of pathologic entities that are amenable to ultrasound examination includes traumatic lesions, inflammatory conditions, entrapment neuropathies and space-occupying lesions. In traumatic injuries, complete and partial tears of the flexor and extensor tendons can be identified with ultrasound based on tendon swelling, echotextural changes and tendon discontinuity.(...)
