LUNG CANCER STAGING: STATE OF ART

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer mortality in the United States with more than 170,000 individuals diagnosed each year, more than 140,000 succumbing to the disease. A number of different imaging procedures, including standard radiography, CT and MRI, play an important role in the diagnosis and staging of patients with lung cancer. Positron emission tomography with fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG-PET) particularly with the advent of PET CT scanners in recent years it has made a significant contribution to both diagnosis and staging.
