MRI OF THE FEMALE PELVIS: TIPS AND TRICKS

ACurrent indication to perform a pelvic MRI in female patients include:
- oncology patients with known cervical, endometrial or suspected ovarian cancer referred for staging,
- patients with chronic pelvic pain and a suspicion of endometriosis or adenomyosis,
- patients with suspicious or indeterminate adnexal masses at ultrasound referred for lesion characterization,
- diagnosis of complex uterine malformation at hysterosalpingography and/or sonography,
- patients with symptomatic large uteri and incomplete sonographic preoperative assessment in uterine polyleimyomatosis particularly when uterine conservative surgery is planned.

In order to answer the clinical questions adequately for each situation, the standard technical protocol needs to be adapted to each indication taking into account missing information not provided by ultrasound.(...)
