CYSTIC TUMORS OF THE PANCREAS

Cystic tumors represent about 10%-15% of all cystic lesions of the pancreas; these include mucin-producing tumors (mucinous cystic tumor and intraductal papillary mucinous tumor/IPMT ) with malignant potential and serous cystadenoma that are benign lesions with no malignant potential. Other more uncommon tumors include solid and papillary epithelial neoplasm that affects women < 50 years old and have good prognosis with surgical resection. Cystic neoplasms are better demonstrated with TSE T2-w sequences (cross-sectional and MRCP). (...)
